Qui la parola marea ha veramente preso un significato tangibile, per noi.
Questa mattina abbiamo fatto una passeggiata sul lungomare, scoprendo con sorpresa che il mare era... lontanissimo! Francis, il proprietario del B&B nel quale stiamo, ci aveva avvisati: "oggi vedrete l'alta marea", ed in effetti è stato così; dopo una giornata a passeggio per la città e la vicina Grimsby infatti, abbiamo giocato a frisbee sulla spiaggia, mentre la marea ci obbligava a farci sempre un po' più in là verso il marciapiedi rialzato... il frisbee finiva in acqua sempre più spesso!
Stasera abbiamo cenato in un locale che sembra uscito dai racconti americani di Coney Island ed invece è la quintessenza del leisure food inglese: specialità fish and chips!
Per domani abbiamo un bel progetto, ma niente spoiler... a presto!
Cleethorpes, city by the sea.
Here, the word tide has assucmed a really tangible meaning, for us.
This morning we took a walk on the promenade by the sea, only to find out that the sea was... really far! Francis, our B&B's owner, warned us: "today you'll see the high tide", and yes, we saw it! After a day spent strolling in Cleethorpes and Grimsby streets, we have played frisbee on the beach, while the tide was forcing us to move on and on towards the pavement... frisbee was going in the sea more and more often!
Tonight we had dinner in a place that looks like coming from Coney Island's stories, but is the quintessence of British leisure food: specialty fish and chips!
For tomorrow we have a big project, but I won't spoil... see you soon!
